WHAT IS HALOTHERAPY?

 

 

The concept of Halotherapy has been used for ages in the world. For centuries, people have believed in the health benefits of salt. It is a mixture of two words “halo” and “therapy”. It is the kind of therapy in which therapists use salt. Halotherapy is a therapy technique in which individuals breathe in salt, which results in many health benefits.

HOW DOES HALOTHERAPY WORK?

Halotherapy is a form of salt therapy in which the individual is placed in a salt cave and breathed a high salt aerosol known as a saline aerosol. The saline aerosol is formed by a machine called a halo generator.

This machine also keeps a record of the room’s temperature, moisture, & air pressure. This therapy can treat many diseases like asthma, allergies, depression, skin diseases, and so on.

HOW HALOTHERAPY STARTS?

From the beginning of time, salt has been used for its healing powers. For humans, salt has always been one of the most powerful components. Where “Halo” is an ancient Greek word meaning “salt”. This method was first called speleotherapy but evolved over centuries into halotherapy. Halotherapy was first started in the 1800s by Feliks Boczkowski, who was a physician. It was discovered in Poland when people started noticing the positive effects of salt on their skin and respiratory system. It was started from the mines of salt in Eastern Europe. The first halotherapy device was first developed in 1985 in Russia.

METHODS OF HALOTHERAPY         

It has mainly two methods.

  • Dry method
  • Wet method

DRY METHOD

The method is normally performed in a “salt cave”. The reasonable temperature of this method is 20°C. The session of the dry method usually lasts for around 40 minutes. In this method, a device is used which is known as a halo-generator where salt is ground into small particles and released into the air with the help of a halo-generator. When the person present in the room inhaled the salt, it works as an absorber of toxins from the body. It mostly results in clear airways. It also absorbs toxins and dirt particles from the skin which results in clearer and smoother skin.

WET METHOD

In the wet method of Halotherapy, they use a mixture of salt and water. This method first started in Poland around the twelfth century. Water cascades in salt rooms or caves are most often used for wet Halotherapy. Materials like Softwood, metals, and raw salt bricks are often used to create water cascades. Negative ions and salts are dispersed into the air as water is infused with salt. It gives the body many benefits related to health. These methods help in treating diseases like cystic fibrosis and lung diseases.

The following are examples of wet Halotherapy methods:

  • Drinking saltwater
  • Rinsing with saltwater
  • Filtration pools containing saltwater
  • Nasal treatment of saltwater
  • Taking a bath in saltwater

BENEFITS OF HALOTHERAPY

Halotherapy is beneficial and safe for both adults and kids. It is precisely beneficial for pregnant women. Halotherapy is one of the more natural and safe ways.

The following are the benefits of Halotherapy:

This method helps a lot in the suitability of skin especially the dry method of this therapy. It helps in the reduction of skin swelling and itching. It plays a great role in the improvement of skin with Rosacea and rashes and helps in wrinkling and aging. The outcome of Halotherapy is more normal, safe, and clear skin.
